Privacy Policy
Last updated October 14, 2026
This policy explains what WalkiTalki collects when you use the service, why, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run a push-to-talk service and we never sell personal data.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Workspace data: workspaces, channels and memberships you create or join, and invites you send.
- Voice messages: audio you send while holding the talk button, stored so your team can replay it.
- Notification subscriptions: if you turn on notifications, your browser gives us a delivery address for them.
- Billing details: payments are handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, never your full card number.
- Technical logs: IP address, browser type and error logs, kept for security and troubleshooting.
Your microphone
WalkiTalki opens your microphone only while you hold the talk button (or while “Fast start” is on and the app is open). Audio is sent only while you are transmitting. Your browser shows its own indicator whenever the microphone is in use.
How long we keep voice messages
Recordings are deleted automatically when their retention period ends: at most 24 hours on Free, 30 days on Pro and trials, and 1 year on Enterprise. Workspace admins can choose a shorter period or turn recording off entirely. You can delete any of your own recordings at any time, and admins can delete any recording in their workspace. Deleting a channel deletes its recordings, and deleting your account removes access to them.
How we use data
- To deliver live audio, replay and notifications to the members of your channels.
- To secure accounts, prevent abuse and enforce plan limits.
- To bill paid plans and send service emails such as receipts.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run WalkiTalki: our hosting provider, Stripe for payments, and browser push services (from Apple, Google or Mozilla) to deliver notifications. They process data only on our behalf. We disclose data to authorities only when the law requires it.
Security
All traffic, including audio, is encrypted in transit with TLS. Sessions use secure, httpOnly cookies, and every connection is checked against channel membership. Workspace admins on Enterprise can review an audit log.
Your choices and rights
You can update your profile, sign out of every device, or delete your account at any time in Settings. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
WalkiTalki is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Schools and families should use a workspace managed by an adult.
